It’s snowing: Must be Pancake Day! Print

Local residents awoke to snow falling today, and this photos shows how the International Pancake Day Hall of Fame looked around 9:30 a.m. before the crowds started showing up for the children’s races at 10:30. City crews spent the morning using propane burners drying the rack the ladies ran in the international race, which was won by Liberal’s Caitlin Demarest, 27. However, Demarest’s time of 64.3 seconds failed to top the new world record performance by Olney’s Devon Byrne, 19, who ran the 415-yard course in England in 56 seconds flat earlier today, breaking the former world record that had been owned by Liberal’s Tasha Gallegos set in 2009. This is the second Olney title for Byrne and her second straight international title. By rule, she is eligible to win one more title if she chooses to race again in the following years.
