LILLIE M. DEMUTH
ULYSSES – Lillie Morgan Demuth, 97, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at The Legacy at Park View in Ulysses.
She was born Sept. 20, 1912, to Tom and Julia Morgan in Hugoton.
She married Walter Demuth July 6, 1936. He died in 1987.
She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1930. Later, she earned her teaching degree from Emporia State University.
She taught school for 30 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hugoton, a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, served on the library board, Hospital Auxiliary, Federated Women’s club and was a member of the Order of the Easter Star.
She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and traveling.
Survivors include one son, Tex Demuth and wife, Jean, Lakin; one daughter, Judy Begley and husband, Jim, Atwood; one brother, Ray Morgan, Carlsbad, N.M.; grandchildren, Tod Demuth and wife, Lisa, Eudora, Pam Hittle and husband, Kyle, Moscow, Vernon Begley, Atwood, and Julia Naefe and husband, Jeff, Madison, Ala.; and great-grandchildren, Dexter and Emily Hittle, Levi, Kate and Evan Demuth and Lily, Noelle and Jack Naefe; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lee Morgan, and two sisters, Olive Kramer and Etna Brown.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Hugoton.
