The Seward County Saints ate breakfast Tuesday morning before loading up the bus and pulling out of the Seward County Community College/Area Technical School campus to start the road trip to Grand Junction, Colo., for the NJCAA College World Series.
A group of supporters gathered to send the team off to only the second national tournament in the history of the Saints baseball program.
One of the sings read, “In it to win it.”
That might be thew attitude of the Saints. As one of only 10 teams at the national tournament, and with a sweep of the competition in both the Region VI Super Regional and Championship series, the Saints have confidence.
The last national appearance was 2004, and coach Galen McSpadden said there was a distinct difference between the two experiences.
“Back then, we were just happy to make it,” he said. “This time, this group won’t be happy just to get there. They expect to win it.”
