U.S. Representative-elect Tim Huelskamp tendered his notice of resignation Thursday of his current seat in the District 38 Kanasas State Senate, according to a statement from Seward County Republican Chairman Reid Petty. This allows the procedure to begin of replacing Huelskamp for the reamining term of the seat in the senate.
The Seward County GOP will convene Tuesday with precint members and an invitation to the public to learn more about the process. according to Petty.
“The Seward County Republican Party will be hosting an informal open forum from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Seward County Administration Building in the commission chambers located at 515 N. Washington,” Petty noted. “The forum will focus on filling Congressman-elect Tim Huelskamp’s state senate seat. Huelskamp gave notice of his resignation on Thursday afternoon, and so the (GOP) precinct committee men and women of the 38th District will pick his successor on Monday, Dec. 27, in Dodge City.
“Whoever is appointed will serve the final two years of Huelskamp’s remaining term,” he explained.
“Tuesday’s meeting will be informational on how the process will work and the rules of the process. It will also allow time for anyone to voice their thoughts to the precinct committee men and women about who they would like to see appointed to the seat,” Petty added. “Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.”
