The Daily Leader

Contestants need to begin preparing for the Miss Liberal Pageant event this year. The qualities of the Miss America/Miss Kansas Organizations have helped young women develop  into strong business women and leaders in today’s world. All winnings are in the form of educational scholarships.
This year’s pageant will take place at 2 p.m. March 6 at  the Liberal High School Auditorium.  Women must be a United States citizen for at least six months and  must be between the ages of 17 and 24 years old and be of high moral character and must be single and never have been pregnant or married. They must have their high school diploma before the Miss Kansas Pageant in June.  All entry forms are listed on the  misskansas.org web site.
This franchise area includes contestants who are Seward County residents for at least six months, and/or must be full time students at Seward County Community College/Southwest Kansas Technical School, Liberal High School, any of Liberal’s Christian high schools, or Southwestern Heights High School.   Contestants are also required to have a platform issue prepared and ready for making public appearances.  Requirements also include: each local contestant must raise $100 for the Children’s Miracle Network before they can compete as a contestant. Interested contestants are reminded to keep a record of all their volunteer hours, including hours on your platform.   The new titleholder will also compete in the Miss Kansas Pageant in June.
Letters will be sent to our merchants, businesses, and boosters asking for their continuing financial support for scholarship donations.  All monetary donations go directly into the scholarship fund.
