Painted rocks could result in prizes at Duck Race

• L&T staff report

It's less than a week away until this year’s Chamber of Commerce Annual Duck Race Festival and United Way Cook Off.

This year’s festival, next Saturday in Light Park, will be hosting two new events or games.  The first is the Rockin’ Duck Hunt hosted by the Chamber.

The contest will be like an Easter egg hunt with around 200 painted rocks placed around the park in visible locations.  There will not be any rocks hidden under or inside of items and can be visible by just looking along walkways around trees and plants and the playground area.

First place for the most rocks found is two duck tickets, and second and third place will be duck baskets with goodies inside. Each duck returned will  get a small prize.

The game starts at 10 a.m. and will end at 1 p.m., so for rules or info, come to Quack Headquarters or to turn in rocks for chances to win prizes. Some rocks returned will get special prizes.

The other new game is going to be Duck Bingo. For this game, report to Duck Headquarters to get you bingo card.

“You must take your card around to the vendors at the festival to get your card marked,” said game coordinator Ada Linenbroker. “When your card is filled return your card to Duck Headquarters to turn in for your chance to win one of three ducks given away from the black out cards turned in. This game will also be played from 10 to 1.”

So come to the Duck Race and enjoy games, the chili /soup cookoff, the Farmers Market and other food and goodies vendors.

“Have a great day of family fun and take a chance to win one of the many prizes,” Linenbroker said. “You could win up to $5,000.”
