Cardinals romp over Pirates, 52-6 PDF Print E-mail

altThe Turpin Cardinals once again bounced back from a tough loss in a big way, defeating the Rolla Pirates by mercy rule at halftime, 52-6.

Junior quarterback Isaiah Villalobos scored early and often, rushing for 199 yards on just 14 carries. Villalobos scored on runs of 17, 10, 80, and 5. Villalobos also tossed a TD pass to Brady Palmer.

Turpin jumped out to a 14-0 lead, and led 30-6 at the end of the first quarter. Turpin added another three scores in the second quarter to end the game at the half.

As a team, Turpin rushed for 304 yards on just 26 carries for a gaudy 11.7 yards per carry average. Turpin was 2 of 3 passing for 29 yards and a touchdown.

Turpin (3-2) is off Friday. Their next contest will be at No.1 Shattuck, October 6.
