The Redskins took second at the Newton cross country meet led my Jaime Minjarez who finished  seventh.

“This was a very competitive meet with many ranked 5A and 6A boys and girls teams,” Liberal coach Cheri Bevis said. “The boys turned in an impressive second-place finish. The boy’s team continues to be very competitive. We will work in the coming weeks on speed and running more consistently as a group of seven in preparation for WAC, regionals, and State.”

The Lady Redskins finished ninth.

“We ran shorthanded this week as freshman standout Mercy Perez was absent due to another school activity,” Bevis said.

The girl’s team was led by sophomore Destyni Lucero who finished in the medals in sixth place. Freshman McKenzie Wright, Kim Francis, and Holly Hinkle continue to improve their times each week.  All three freshman girls set new PR’s this week.

The next meet is in Lakin Saturday.
