WAYNOKA,OKLA- For the second consecutive week the No.2 Forgan Bulldogs found themselves facing a top ten team and once again another C-1 district contender in No. 9 Waynoka. After a win over top ranked Shattuck a week ago, some fans were a little worried about a possible let down. Not only did the Bulldogs not take their foot off the gas pedal, they slammed it closer to the floor. In doing so, they put themselves in the C-1 district driver’s seat. They also brought a different approach into this game. Last week Rhett Radcliff carried the ball 32 times, this week not so much. Radcliff rushed a few times, threw the ball some, but for the most part let his backs Dusty Armstrong and Matt Morris carry the weight. Armstrong brought speed and long runs, Morris brought the tough runs and first downs. Radcliff, well he ran when needed and tossed the ball when needed for 150 passing yards. The Bulldog defense? Oh yeah, they attended the game as well and played a major part in securing a 45-0 third quarter victory by point rule.
Forgan took the first possession of the game letting Morris pound the ball down the field and finally reaching the Railroader 17. Then Radcliff took a few runs of his own to eventually punch it in from the two yardline and again on the two point conversion attempt to give Forgan an 8-0 lead with 7:20 left in the first.
The Bulldog defense didn’t start as sharp as needed, allowing Waynoka to march for 46 yards down the field and causing Coach Bowles to call a timeout. Forgan knocked the pigskin loose and recovered it on the following play, giving them possession at their own 20 yardline. Armstrong took the opening play of the series 80 yards to the endzone and 14-0 Bulldog lead they would hold through the first quarter.
A drive that started in the first quarter would end 24 seconds into the second with a 24 yard touchdown pass from Radcliff to Morris and grow the lead to 20-0. The defense kept bringing the heat and Forgan started the next drive from their 13. On a fourth and seven at the Waynoka 42, Radcliff found his brother Ryan for a 30 yard pass to the Railroader 12 yardline. Again Armstrong torched the defense on the edge to gain a 26-0 margin with 3:47 left in the first half of play. After a defensive stand, Radcliff hit Armstrong for a 60 yard TD pass for a 32-0 lead going into the intermission.
In the third quarter again Armstrong broke loose for a 55 yard touchdown run and a 38-0 Forgan lead. On the following possession Fr. Luis Ordonez raced down the sideline for a 29 yard touchdown to put the Dawgs up 44-0. With 4:02 remaining in the third quarter Armstong ended the game at 45-0 on the extra point kick.
The Dawgs seem to be growing in confidence, play makers, scheme and discipline. Last week they endured 20 penalties, this Friday night only five. Armstrong finished with 123 rushing yards, and an additional 60 yards receiving. Morris rushed for 80 and caught for 42, while Radcliff carried for 40 and tossed for 150. The Bulldog offense is spreading the wealth and the defense just keeps coming. Forgan finished the night with 440 total yards of offense to Waynoka’s 24 yards. The defense was lead again by Tayler Eagan and Tanner Jones with both at 12 tackles each. No. 2 Forgan(5-0) travels to Sharon-Mutual next week and No.9 Waynoka(4-1) will visit Waukomis.
