HUGOTON – Mary E. Slocum, 91, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton.
She was born April 14, 1919, to Samuel Truman and Ida Frances (Smith) Tyler in Ordway, Colo.
She married Paul G. Slocum Dec. 9, 1939, in Garden City. He died March 22, 2005.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hugoton.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Curtis Slocum and wife, Dona, Hugoton, and Truman Duane Slocum and wife, Kay, Sun City, Ariz.; four daughters, Mary Lou Peterson, Enid, Okla., Pauline Nelson and husband, Richard, Bethany, Okla., Imogene Bressler and husband, Dallas, Rolla, and Karen McGill and husband, Virgil, Muskogee, Okla.; two sisters, Hazel Dye, Canyon City, Colo., and Frances Knaus and husband, Ray, Garden City; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, George Slocum; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Donald Tyler and Calvin Tyler; and one sister, Thelma Wolfe.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of God Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Ben Coats and the Rev. Gary Wright presiding.
Burial will follow at Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Paul’s Funeral Home in Hugoton.
