According to a statement released by Liberal Police Capt. Patrick McClurg this morning, an 18-year-old male was stabbed late Sunday night. The incident was the second stabbing in a week.
McClurg reported, “On April 18, 2010, at about 10:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to Southwest Medical Center for a report of a stabbing victim. Responding officers learned that the stabbing occurred near Mahuron Park in the 800 block of East Seventh.
“Investigating officers learned that the 18-year-old male victim got into a confrontation with a 19-year old-male,” McClurg continued. “A physical altercation ensued and the victim was stabbed several times. 
“The victim was transported to Southwest Medical Center by a private vehicle. He is expected to recover.
“The investigation is ongoing.  An affidavit will be forwarded to the county attorney for review of potential charges,” McClurg added.
In the early morning hours of April 11, a 20-year-old male was stabbed during an altercation between numerous people on the parking lot at Love’s Country Store on East Pancake Boulevard.
