JOHNSON – Marvin T. Herron, 81, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Stanton County Hospital in Johnson.
He was born Dec. 13, 1928, to Thomas J. and Minnie B. (Haines) Herron in Morton County.
He married Ilene Ballinger Aug. 24, 1946, in Garden City. She survives.
He graduated from Manter High School.
He farmed and raised cattle and sheep. He helped with supervising and the construction of the Pleasant Plains School and served on the school board.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Johnson, where he also served as the treasurer for many years.
He was a member of the Morton County Grazing Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and making clocks for kids.
Other survivors include three daughters, Barbara Hammond and husband, Alva, Goodwell, Okla., Judy O’Bryan, Johnson, and Linda Hammond and husband, Ray Jr., Garden City; one brother, Manford Herron, Manter, one sister, Wanda Batterton, Johnson; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Curtis Herron; one brother, Charles Herron; one sister, Edith Breicheisen; one grandson, Jared O’Bryan; and one son-in-law, Donnie O’Bryan.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Johnson with the Rev. Robert W. Warner presiding.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.
