A Hugoton man is dead following a collision Sunday afternoon in Cimarron County, Okla.
A report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said George C. Truitt II, 43, of Hugoton, was pronounced dead at the scene from internal injuries after an accident which occurred at 3:15 p.m. two miles west of Boise City and one mile north of U.S. Highway 56 on a county road in Cimarron County.
Truitt’s vehicle, a 1990 Honda PC, was eastbound on the county road, when it went left of center, lost control and went into a broad slide striking the front end of a second vehicle, a 2000 Ford PU, driven by Ray F. Henshaw of Boise City.
Both Henshaw and a passenger in his vehicle, Valerie R. Kerschen of Boise City, refused treatment at the scene of the collision. However, a passenger in Truitt’s vehicle, Jordan M. Truitt, 14, of Boise City, was taken to Cimarron County Memorial Hospital in Boise City. He was later flown by Mediflight to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where he is listed in stable condition.
Seat belts were equipped in both vehicles, but only in use in the Honda, according to the OHP. No subjects were pinned or ejected from the vehicles.
