Bee Jays keep season alive with 12-inning win PDF Print E-mail

If the Bee Jays would have given up an eight run lead and lost to Hays Wednesday night, not only would it have let air out of an already leaky balloon, but it very well could have popped it entirely.

Teams can recover from losses, but in a 32-game league season, already off to a 3-7 start and having lost three in a row, to have built an eight run lead with only six outs to go and to give it up was tough enough, but to lose the game would have led to alternative thoughts for players the rest of the summer.

Perhaps winning the way the Bee Jays did last night was what it will take to turn the season around.

Hays had a tidal wave of momentum after tying the game in the ninth, and yet the Bee Jays found a way to stop the bleeding and give their offense a chance.

Ryan Scott and Chad Nack provided the necessary work on the mound after the bullpen destroyed the work done by starter Justin Schnedler.

Finding a way to win in the 12th inning develops a mentality that doesn’t always come with a 10-2 blowout.

Just the night before, Hays blew out the Bee Jays 15-4.

There are some things you can’t coach. A player either has the grit to battle through adversity and find a way to win, or they make excuses.

The Bee Jays not only showed that grit last night, but they showed emotion in the dugout, and it spread to the fans.

When something doesn’t go the way you want it to go, you have to make something positive happen, and with fans clapping, stands pounding, and pressure mounting on Hays in the 12th, the Bee Jays found a way by pushing a run across on a wild pitch.

They now know they can make it happen.
