Ruben Longoria, Jr., 62, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, after losing his battle with cancer.
He was born in Edcouch, Texas.
He was raised in Liberal and graduated with the Liberal High School Class of 1970. He also graduated from Seward County Community College.
He retired from the U.S. Army after serving honorably as a war veteran and was decorated for serving in many conflicts throughout multiple theaters.
He worked 16 years for the City of Wichita and 18 years with Sedgwick County.
Survivors include wife, Karen Bailey, Wichita; mother, Maria, Liberal; brothers, Richard and wife, Isabel; and Mike, all of Liberal; Frank, San Antonio; and George and wife, Aurora, Denver; sisters, Mary Quince and husband, Robert, Memphis, Tenn.; and Martha Smith and husband, Norman, Liberal; and cousins, nephews, nieces and dogs, Max and Mona.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Sr.; brother, John; twin brother, Robert; and sister, Cleotilde.
• Memorial service was at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 7, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West in Wichita.
