JoAnn Marie Whitham, 83, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Morton County Special Care Unit in Elkhart.
She was born January 31, 1931, to Tony and Lavona Wendler Meis in Lane County.
She married Bruce Whitham on November 26, 1949.
She later married Don Hansen on May 21, 1992. He survives.
She graduated from Scott City High School in 1949.
She was involved in the family business of farming and building. She was also the owner and operator of Whitham Realty.
She was a member of the Kansas Association of Realtors and the Kansas Democratic Party.
Survivors also include daughters, Carol W. Augustine and husband, Rick, Austin, Texas and Jane E. Harding and husband, Jerry, Liberal; grandchildren, Brian and Erin Nash, Austin, Texas, Angie Harding, Oklahoma City, Crystal and Philip Kinsinger, Moore, Okla., and Staci Nash, Austin; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son, Robert B. Whitham; brothers, Austin, Luke, Harold and Ernest Meis; and sister, Margaret McCollum.
• Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, with Rev. Nathan Sheridan presiding.
Burial was held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City.
