Lady Mustangs take two from Sublette PDF Print E-mail

The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs picked up a pair of wins Tuesday over Sublette, 15-1 and 14-9.

In Game 1, the Lady Mustangs got a superb pitching performance from Rachel Amerin, who gave up just one hit, one walk, and no earned runs in a 15-1 rout. Amerin also struckout two of the twelve batters she faced in the three-inning, run-rule win.

Heights also had their offense in full gear from the get-go, scoring seven runs in the first and another six in the second to take a 13-0 lead after two innings.

The Lady Mustangs collected eight hits and took advantage of 14 walks and three errors made by the Lady Larks.

Amerin was also a force at the plate, going 2-3 with a double, a triple, three RBI, and three runs scored. Sara Eakes was 1-1 with a double, three walks, three RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Lexi Stark was 1-1 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored. Viancy Jimenez went 1-2 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored. Celia Sanchez was 1-2 with two walks, and two runs scored. Dakoda Cox was 1-2 with a walk, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Danielle Sanchez scored two runs and had an RBI.

In Game 2, Heights answered every late-inning run by Sublette to hold on for a 14-9 win.

The Lady Mustangs led Sublette 6-1 heading into the fifth inning when the Larks started to get their offense going. Sublette scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth to cut the Lady Mustangs lead to 6-3. Heights answered back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to go up 9-3.

Sublette rallied to scored six runs in the top of the six to tie the game at nine.

Again, Heights answered back, scoring five runs in the bottom half of the inning, and held the Lady Larks scoreless in the seventh to hold on for the win.

Lexi Stark got the win, but gave up 12 hits, and nine earned runs. Stark did not allow a walk and struck out four batters.

Celia Sanchez was 4-4 at the plate with a walk, two RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base. Viancy Jimenez was 2-3 with a triple, a walk, an RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases. Hanna Baldwin ent 1-2 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored, and a stolen base. Danielle Sanchez went 1-1 with a walk, and two runs scored. Beatrice Adame drove in two runs.

Heights (10-6) will travel to Satanta Friday for a doubleheader.
