Eva Jean Newburn, 83, died April 22, 2014 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
Jean was born July 12, 1930 to Archie and Goldie Herald Judd on the farm near Hooker, Okla.
She married Doyle Newburn in Las Vegas in 1961. He preceded her in death in 1988
She attended Lemon Rural School until the eighth grade and then attended Hooker High School graduating in 1948.
She worked for Bell Telephone as an operator in Hooker and later the First National Bank of Hooker.
She enjoyed crocheting, Skip-Bo and traveling.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Hooker, Okla.
Survivors include her son, Dennis and wife Carolyn Newburn, Alvarado, Texas; daughter, Linda Jean and husband Tommy Word, Dumas, Texas; stepbrother, Dwyatt Gantt, St. Louis; stepsister, Winifred Robertson, Houston; three grandchildren: Lisa Roessner, Kevin Kell and Tonya Richardson; four great-grandchildren: Jordon Kell, Braiden Richardson, Jeff Roessner and Zachary Roessner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Alvin Jude; stepbrother, Ryal Gantt; and stepsister Billie Jane Kruse.
• Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at the Church of Christ in Hooker, Okla. with Dan Herald presiding.
Burial will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Hooker, Okla.
