Local churches announce Easter services, activities PDF Print E-mail

Easter weekend is rapidly approaching and local churches are preparing for special services and other events.

The Fellowship Baptist Church will be holding its main services at 10:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt for the children will follow the services.

First Baptist Church will be having their Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, where there will be games and food along with a special Easter message. There will also be a sunrise service on Easter Sunday at 7 a.m. with a fellowship breakfast afterwards and a regular service at 10:45 a.m.

Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church will also be holding a sunrise service on Easter Sunday beginning at 7:03 a.m. and a regular service at 10:45 a.m. The church will also be having a Secret Church with First Southern Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Trinity Faith Church will have its choir singing special choruses and there will be the regular service at 10:30 a.m. with a special Easter message and there will also be a service on Sunday evening.

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church will be starting their Easter celebrations on Holy Thursday at 7 p.m., according to the parish calendar. During that service, the ritual washing of feet will take place along with a presentation of oils blessed by the bishop. On Good Friday, the passion from the gospel of John will be read in two services, in English at 4 p.m. and Spanish at 7 p.m., according to the parish calendar, and live stations of the cross will be from 5 to 7 p.m. On Holy Saturday, there will be a vigil mass at 9 p.m. On Easter Sunday, there will be services in English at 9 a.m. and twice in Spanish, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Faith Tabernacle Church will be having its regular services on Easter Sunday at 6 p.m. along with a special presentation of the movie “Heaven Is For Real” beginning at 4:45 p.m. The church will also be having its annual invitation for baptisms for those who attend.

First Southern Baptist Church is inviting the public to its special Easter Services on Easter Sunday. Service times are as follows:

• 6:45 a.m. – “Celebrate the Resurrection” sunrise service at the amphitheatre in Light Park  just north of the water park.

• 9:30 a.m. – Sunday School at the church.

• 10:45 a.m. – Easter Sunday worship at First Southern Baptist Church at Seventh Street and Western Avenue.
