DODGE CITY – Dorothy Jean (Barker) Hargett, 78, died Monday, March 1, 2010, in Dodge City.
She was born Sept. 15, 1931, to Everett and Lilly Barker in Douglas.
She married Raymond Hargett Dec. 20, 1952, in Montezuma. He survives.
She graduated from Douglas High School and Wichita State University.
She taught elementary school in Montezuma and retired as Montezuma city clerk.
She served as an EMT and on the Montezuma City Council. She was a member of the Silver-haired Legislature and a volunter at the Montezuma Senior Center.
Other survivors include two sons, Kyle and Cole; three grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan and Senna; and one daughter-in-law, Yolanda.
She was preceded in death by her parent, four brothers and two sisters.
o Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma with the Rev. Jerry Odle and the Rev. Benny Rosell presiding.
Burial will be at the Evans Cemetery in Montezuma.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Montezuma Funeral Home.
