LIBERAL – Ernesto Vargas Valverde, 53, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born Nov. 17, 1960 to Bernardina Valverde in Durango, Mexico.
He married Wilma Jean Martinez On Dec. 30, 1985. She survives.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He had been employed at National Beef Packing Co. in the shipping department.
He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, walking his dog, being at his brother's restaurant and visiting family in Mexico.
Survivors include his parents; daughters: Kiesha Tanae Sierra and husband Joe, Dodge City, Ernestina Maria Vargas and Julio Cardenas, Liberal, and Bernardina Leyva and husband Jose, Liberal; brothers: Panfilo Vargas, Mexico; Faustino Valverde, Liberal; Antonio Castro, Mexico; and Julio Castro, Mexico; sisters: Carmen Vargas, Mexico, Rosa Castro, Mexico; Imelda Castro, Mexico; Maria Elena Castro, Mexico and Irene Martinez, Liberal; and 10 grandchildren: Laticia, Mary Jo, Noah, Oriana and Phoenix Sierra; Joli Ana, Arian and Angelo Cardenas; Modesto and Ernesto Leyva.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Isaiah Jordan Sierra and a brother.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26th at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Burial will take place in Delicias, Chih., Mexico.
Vigil and Rosary will be held at 9 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 3 to 8pm Monday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
