On Saturday, March 29, the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT) will host a free entrance day and open houses at all state parks. Visitors also will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of events at most parks.
Meade State Park will be offering office tours all day. We will be selling permits, outdoor store items, taking reservations and answering any questions. The park will have a drawing for one hoodie, two youth T-shirts and two adult T-shirts.
The office will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In an effort to help raise money for the park’s OK Kids Day event, staff will be hosting a Trout Derby.
Registration will be from 7 a.m. to noon. Entry fees are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Prize categories for the adult division are: Biggest fish and heaviest stringer. Participants can only enter one category in the adult division.
Prize categories for the kids division are: Biggest fish and smallest fish.
People must be registered for the derby in order to be eligible for the prizes. Fishermen must also have a valid fishing license and trout permit.
OK Kids Day committee members will be selling hot dogs, chips and water. All proceeds will benefit the park’s OK Kids Day event.
So please come out and take advantage of this opportunity and support Kansas State Parks. For any questions or more information, please call the park office at 620-873-2572.
