Justin McPhail advanced to the semi-finals at the state wrestling tournament Saturday while Carlos Rodriguez was working his way through the consolation bracket.

Both wrestlers opened with victories, but in the quarterfinals Carlos Rodriguez was pinned, and McPhail earned a 3-1 overtime win.

McPhail was one match short of the championship when he lost to Donnie Lockhatd 8-2.

Rodriguez will wrestle at 9 a.m. Saturday morning while McPhail will wrestle later in the day. Both are vying for a third place finish.

Quaterfinals — Logan Gaskill Emporia Fall Carlos Rodriguez Liberal, 1.59
