JOHNSON – John E. Williamson, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, Johnson.
He was born July 17, 1937, to Alfred Edmon and Evelyn Pauline (Mattocks) Williamson in Cedar Vale.
He married Earlene F. Nairn Aug. 16, 1970. She died May 16, 2000.
He graduated from Syracuse High School. He attended Garden City Community College.
He served 10 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Syracuse Police Department and as chief of police in Elkhart. He then worked as a parts manager at L&N Engine before working at Cities Service Gas for 21 years as a senior operator. After retiring, he worked in the clubhouse at Prairie Pines Golf Course in Johnson.
He enjoyed shooting, bowling, golfing, fishing and playing dominos.
Survivors include one son, Rick Williamson and wife, Cindy, Johnson; three daughters, Shari King and husband, Ron, Eskridge, Robin Heckel and husband, Greg, Ulysses, and Joni Hale and husband, Clint, Clarksville, Tenn.; one brother, Jim Williamson and wife, Anita, Garden City; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
• Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson, with Pastor Kurt Rovenstine presiding.
Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post No. 3684.
