The Southwestern Heights Mustangs hung tough with the Holcomb Longhorns in the first half, but could not keep up in the second as Holcomb pulled away for a 66-54 win.
After falling behind 18-13 in the first quarter, the Southwestern Heights Mustangs rebounded with some tough defense in the second with a 13-9 advantage to cut the Longhorns’ lead to just one at half (27-26).
But Holcomb took back control of the game in the third with a 21-15 advantage, and increased their lead in the fourth by outscoring Heights 18-13 to win by 12.
Nathan Johnsrud led the Mustangs with 14 points, five rebounds and two steals. Cody Jennings added 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Jorge Dela Torre scored 9.
Heights (4-3) travels to Larned Friday.
