ULYSSES – Jose A. Ibarra, 63, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita,.
He was born April 5, 1950, the son of Jesus and Leocadia (Del Rio) Ibarra, in Guadalupe Zacatecas, Mexico.
He married Blanca E. Sosa on Feb. 15, 1974, in Guadalupe, Zacatecas, Mexico.
He grew up in Mexico and moved to Ulysses in 1977.
He worked at Ulysses Co-op, drove a truck for Pletcher Farms in Sharon Springs, Kan., and then became an owner and operator of T&T Trucking.
He was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Soldiers of Christ, and he enjoyed playing and watching sports.
He dedicated his life to his family. He was a loving husband, proud father and an amazing grandfather. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Blanca of the home; two sons, Antonio S. Ibarra, Ulysses, Jose Ibarra, Jr., Ulysses; one daughter, Elizabeth Contreras and husband, Jason, Ulysses; two brothers, Manuel Jesus Ibarra Del Rio, Ramon Ibarra Del Rio, both of Mexico; two sisters, Maria Guadalupe Ibarra Del Rio, Alicia Ibarra Del Rio, both of Mexico; and two grandchildren, Kaleah and Tyler Contreras.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Juan and Jose Luis.
• Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday and funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, with Rev. Peter Fernandez presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
