Despite rampant rumors, National Beef’s recent shutdown had nothing to do with disease or intentions to relocate.

National Beef spokesman Keith Welty was contacted Tuesday via email and responded that the closure was due to internal operations.

“Operational issues caused National Beef to temporarily stop production at our Liberal facility,” Welty noted Tuesday afternoon, adding “We have resumed production on B-Shift today (Tuesday).”

National Beef had shut down Saturday, thus creating rumors throughout the weekend.
