The Lady Saints came up well short of a victory Tuesday night at the Greenhouse in their final regular season home match of the year, falling to the Otero Lady Rattlers in four sets.

Seward came out competetive in the first set, keeping it close for the majority of the opening set. Eventually the Lady Rattlers were able to pull away, and took the first set 25-17.

The second set was much like a mirror image of the first set, only this time it was the Lady Saints that jumped ahead midway through the set, and came away with the victory, winning the set 25-19.

Despite what looked like a swing in momentum, Otero refused to back down.

The third set was filled with back-and-forth action with neither team having a clear advantage. In the end though, it was Otero closing out the set strong, closing out the set with a 25-20 win.

One set away from dropping the set, Seward failed to show up for the fourth set. Looking flat and defeated, the Lady Saints fell in a deep hole early, falling behind 9-1.

The Lady Rattlers did not let off the gas, and extended their lead to 17-2. Otero led by as many as 16 at one point at 19-3.

Seward made an attempt at a comeback, but was too far down, and could not overcome the impressive Lady Rattler offense.

In the end, it was Otero taking the set 25-12 to win the match, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 25-12.

Prior to the game the Saints honored sophomores Annelise Sanchez and Morgan Riley for their contributions to the Lady Saints over the past two years as part of sophomore appreciation night.

Seward now stands at 20-14 overall on the year, and are 10-4 in Jayhawk West play.

The Lady Saints head to La Junta Colo. Thursday where they will again face the Lady Rattlers and Adams State to close out the regular season before they open postseason play at home against Garden City on Nov. 5.
