At its Sept. 16 meeting, the Seward County Commission approved a bid from Liberal’s Southern Office Supply for a mailing system.
The system was recommended by county clerk Stacia Long at a cost of $492 per month for a period of 36 months.
The new system was a replacement for a postage machine as part of the county’s capital improvement plan.
On Sept. 25, Southern Office had brought in a contract for the mailing machine stating the business could offer $422 per month for 39 months, which would actually save the county about $1,300.
However, with the motion from Sept. 16 on the board, the item needed to be brought back to the commission before a lower price could be accepted.
The proposed contract is on the commission’s agenda for tonight’s regular meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the commission chambers in the Seward County Administration Building.
County staff has recommended that the board direct Long to sign the lease agreement in the amount of $422 per month for 39 months with funding to come from county equipment amending the Sept. 16 motion.
