The Lady Redskins jumped out to a 9-4 lead, but Dodge City’s Brenna Briggs hit three three pointers in the second quarter, and the Lady Redskins struggled offensively. Liberal never recovered and fell 51-34.
“Offensively we have to get better,” Liberal coach Shane Stout said. “We need someone to step up and be aggressive.”
Dodge took a 19-14 lead into the break and came out firing early in the third quarter.
The Lady red demons hit the first three baskets of the half, and Stout called a time out to discuss his team’s effort early.
The Lady Redskins responded with a Malyssa Williams basket and a Kayla Payton free throw to narrow the gap to 25-17.
Dodge stretched the lead back to 11, but Justice Norah hit a three pinter before the end of the third quarter to trim the lead to eight.
The Lady Redskins could not get closer than eight the rest of the way.
“In the fourth quarter we had better penetration and got tot he hole,” Stout said. “We had to press, and Dodge is a good enough team to break the press and get lay-ups. We just traded baskets in the fourth.”
Norah led the Lady redskins with 15 points and Payton scored 12.
Liberal will host Great Bend at 6 p.m. Friday.
