ELKHART – Ann L. Atwood, 80, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born Oct. 12, 1932, to Albert D. and Bertha E. (Creasman) Long in Mesa, Ariz.
She married George E. Atwood Aug. 28, 1961, in Mesa. He died Nov. 5, 2012.
She graduated from Mesa High School. She continued her education at Wheaton College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
She taught in various schools including the Navajo Indian Reservation. She was a substitute teacher in Elkhart as well as a homemaker. She also worked for a number of years at the Morton County Courthouse.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Elkhart, where she taught Sunday school and was the organist and pianist for 20 plus years.
Survivors include son, Steven Atwood, Elkhart; daughter, Carolyn Morris and husband, Jeff, Hutchinson; one sister, Mary Robinson of California; two grandchildren, Anna Marie Deal, and Evann Grace Deal; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Albert D. Long Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Atwood.
• Funeral service were at 10 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart, with Pastor Ed Richards presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery.
