Maria “Luz” Elena Aranda, 93, died July 16, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Dec. 5, 1919, to Margarita Rodriguez in San Andres, Chihuahua, Mexico.
She married Oct. 22, 1938. He died May 31, 1971.
She was the secretary for General Albino Aranda.
She was member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.
Survivors include sons, Gilberto Aranda and wife, Arminda, Ulysses, Homero Aranda and wife, Guadalupe, Presidio, Texas, and Sergio Aranda and wife, Arminda, of Mexico and Omar Martin Aranda and companion, Elaina, Dumas, Texas; daughters, Irma Madrid and husband, Valente, Dumas, Texas, Marta Elena Rodriguez and husband, Oscar, Liberal, and Maria Margarita Veronica and husband, Justino, Liberal; sister, Piedad Arias, Chihuahua, Mexico; 30 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Asencion Garcia, Alpine, Texas; and daughters-in-laws, Lola Aranda, Alpine, and Melena Aranda, Presidio.
She was also preceded in death by: two sons, Hector Aranda and Jose Benito Aranda; two daughters, an infant daughter and Rosa Elva Garcia; one brother, Jose Palacios and two sisters, Carlota Rodriguez and Agroda Rodriguez.
• Rosary and vigil service will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Jim Dieker presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
