Elaine T. Nix, 84, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Southwest Medical Center.  

She was born Feb. 5, 1924, to Lester R. and Helen (Reed) Templin in Agenda.  

She married Roy Lee Nix Dec. 22, 1950, in Liberal. He died Sept.18, 1990.

She graduated from Concordia High School in 1942. She graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield in 1946, with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education.  

She was a second grade teacher in the Winfield Public Schools from 1950-1953. She was a kindergarten teacher from 1967-84 and a second grade teacher from 1984-86 for USD 480 working at Washington and McKinley schools in Liberal. 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Circle 8, PEO-Chapter FA where she was a 50-year Golden Girl, Hobby Club and Seward County Retired Teachers. 

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey Nix and wife, Bonnie, Liberal, and Rodney Nix and companion, Donna Flores, Liberal; one daughter, Marla Roehr and husband, Terry,  Liberal; two grandchildren, Katie Stone and husband, Dustin, Colorado Springs, Colo., Sarah Lambert and husband, Mason, Kansas City, Mo.; and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Jenna Stone, Colorado Springs.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Rosemary Chapman.

o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Liberal with the Rev. David Randall and the Rev. Rex Petty presiding.  

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or the Lester R. Templin Scholarship Fund at Southwestern College in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
