The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs ran into a buzzsaw in the first round of the regional softball playoffs, losing to Medicine Lodge 15-0 in four innings to end their season.

“Medicine Lodge is just a very good team,” Lady Mustangs coach J.R. Mendoza said.

Medicine Lodge scored three in the first, five in the second, and finished the game off with seven in the fourth

Heights managed only three hits in the game, and 10 of 12 outs came by strikeout.

Ericka Nevarrez was 1-2 with a walk; Sara Eakes and Lexi Stark were each 1-2.

“We improved on last year and I expect to do the same, getting ready for next year,” Mendoza said.

Heights’ season ends with an 8-13 record.
