A Liberal man died Monday after sustaining serious injuries in an ATV accident Sunday.
Daniel Humberto Ronquillo, 23, died at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita after he rolled a 4-wheeler in Seward County, according to Seward County Sheriff’s Capt. Rob Gant.
“It happened at 6:28 p.m. Sunday evening on Green Hills Road .8 mile west of Road P,” Gant said. “He was driving a Yamaha ATV when he hit a pot hole causing the ATV to roll three times throwing the driver off the ATV.”
Ronquillo was transported to Southwest Medical Center and then life flighted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where he died from his injuries Gant said.
His obituary, which was published in the Leader & Times Tuesday, noted he died the following day, on Monday, after arriving in Wichita.
Gant said there is no ongoing investigation of the incident, however, the department is awaiting the final toxicology report from the coroner’s office.
Ronquillo was a resident of Liberal from 1994 and was a 2008 graduate from Liberal High School. His mother, a brother and sister live in Liberal.
His rosary will be at 5:30 p.m., today at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, and his funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.
