Daily Leader staff report
It wasn’t the typical offensive output that the Lady Saints have produced this season, but the defense was as tough as usual in a 61-43 win for the Lady Saints over Coffeyville Saturday at the Jayhawk Shootout.
Rachel Barnes led the way again with 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Lady Saints. Megan Lassley scored 10, and Nadia Rosario had nine.
Seward struggled to shoot the ball in the first half, only connecting on 30 percent of their shots. But the Lady Saint defense held Coffeyville to just 21 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.
Seward limited its three-point shooting in the second half and hit 42 percent.
Coffeyville couldn’t connect on six three-point attempts in the second half.
The No. 16 Lady Saints (15-1, 2-0) will travel to Pratt Wednesday to continue the Jayhawk West schedule.
