Four Saints scored in double figures Friday in an 83-67 win over Cowley in the first game of the Jayhawk Shootout at Coffeyville.
Seward shot a blistering 52 percent for the game while holding Cowley to 44 percent.
There might have been more distance between the two if Cowley had not shot 46 percent from three-point range. The Tigers made 12 three pointers on 26 attempts compared to Seward’s four three pointers out of 13 tries.
Seward wasted little time building a lead, and by hlaftime the Saints were ahead by 12 with a 46-34 advantage.
The Saints continued to outpace the Tigers in the second half en route to the 83-67 win.
Seward was led by Tony Smith who scored 25 points including two three-pointers.
Marcus James added 20 points for the Saints, and Latiq Agard scored 13.
Marky Nolen added 10, and Jon Tassin just missed double digits with nine. Donte McCarter scored six for the Saints.
Seward advanced to 11-3 on the season, 2-0 in the Jayhawk West.
The Saints will return to Jayhawk West action Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Pratt.
