Obituary

AMARILLO, Texas – JoAnn McElroy, 79, died Sunday, December 20, 2009, at Baptist St. Anthony Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born on June 28, 1930, to Thomas and Maye Forehand Perry in Comanche, Okla. 
She married Floyd McElroy Dec. 11, 1949. He preceded her in death.
She worked as a soda jerk in the local drug store. She also helped in her mother’s restaurant, learning to be an excellent cook. She worked for Haliburton for a short time.  
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hooker. 
She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne McElroy, and her granddog, Ping, Hooker, Okla.; one brother-in-law, Gene Weber, Hooker; three nieces, Darlynn (Weber) Suto and husband, Mate, Guymon; Jeanine (Weber) Fishback and husband, Bob, Forsan, Texas; and Lori (Weber) Jackson, Canyon, Texas; several great and great-great nieces and nephews, James Hopper, Marlow, Okla., Stefanie Suto and daughter, Kaleigh,Canyon, Jerrod Fishback, his wife, Amanda; and daughters, Victoria and Ella, Virginia Beach, Va., Stacey Hidalgo, husband, Shawn, and children Draven, Noelle, Zach, and Nate, Hooker, Megan Fishback, Sydney, Australia, Grayson Hofferber and daughter, Adelyn, McKinney, Texas, David Suto, Guymon, and McKenzie Jackson, Canyon; her cousins, Thomas Hand, Henderson, Nev., Jean Hand, Henderson,  and Harold Forehand, Boise, Idaho; several close friends, all part of her extended family, Mary Witt and husband, Mark, Hooker, Robbie Wayman and daughter, Natalie, Hooker, Ricky and Julie Wayman and children, Aaron and Shelby, Hooker; Michelle (Wayman) Capuano and husband, Tony, Tulsa, Brent and Kim Ukens and son, Hayden, Hooker, Greg Meng, Los Angeles, and Arlen and Debbie Meng, Weatherford, Texas; special friends, Pat and Earl Meng, Hooker; and many other friends and loved ones.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lena Hopper, and one nephew, Tommy Hopper.
o Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Hooker Cemetery  with the Rev. Jerry Raab of the United Methodist Church in Hooker presiding.
Memorials are suggested to the Hooker Ambulance Association or the Hooker Firefighters and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
