A day after defeating No.7 Ft. Cobb-Broxton, the Hooker Bulldogs took down No.13 Chattanooga 47-38 to win the Western Equipment Tournament

Joe Bean, who was voted all-tournament with Gabe Morales, scored 22 in the championship game.

Hooker led 11-8 at the end of the first, and 26-22 at halftime.

Both teams turned up the defensive intensity in the third, with neither team scoring in double figures (7-6). Hooker held on for the title win in the fourth.

“I thought our guys did a good job defending their 6-7 kid,” Bulldogs coach Chad Hussey said. “The top four teams in this tournament were all pretty salty so this was a very good tournament to win.”

The Hooker Lady Bulldogs took home the third place trophy with 47-43 double overtime win over Sayre.

Both Hooker teams will travel to Texhoma Tuesday.
