Dale Stevens, 97, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the Rainbow Community Health Center in Bristow, Okla.

He was born Sept. 17, 1915, to Charles and Katherine Stevens  on the Stevens Homestead five miles west of Tyrone, Okla.

He married Kathleen Kelley Aug. 7, 1949, at the Christian Church in Liberal. She preceded him in death.

He was a 35-year veteran of the United States Postal Service where he served as a rural letter carrier. He served in various capacities during his life in Tyrone. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a military policeman transporting prisoners stateside.

He is survived by two children, Rebecca Jean Hook and husband, Ausbie, Wichita, and Garvin Stevens and wife, Stephanie, Olive, Okla.; one brother, Jim, Hutchinson; one sister, Doris Mann, Tyrone; three grandchildren, Todd Hook and wife, Leilani, Wichita,  Kyle Hook and wife, Rashelle, Wichita, and Kyndal Stevens, Tulsa, Okla.; one great-grandchild, Bradley Zrubek, Wichita; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Kecia Stevens; two brothers, Curtis and Bruce Stevens; and five sisters, Elmo Compton, Gladys Rist, Maxine Cain, Mildred Woodward and Florence Ann Crist.

o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Tyrone United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Brock and the Rev. Les Bussell presiding.

Burail will be at the Tyrone Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Tyrone Cemetery Fund or the Kecia Deann Stevens Memorial Endowment in Nursing at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla., and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
