There will be a wide variety of requests looking for approval from the USD 480 school board during its next meeting this evening beginning at 6:30.

The first of these requests will be vehicle purchases. The vehicles looking for board approval include one 2018 Ford Transit low roof cargo van, two 2014 or newer 2WD single cab pickups, two 84-passenger school route buses (state bid), two 2018 10-passenger Ford vans (state bid), and two 2017 7-passenger Dodge Caravans (local).

“The transportation committee has met and reviewed the Transportation Department’s request for vehicles for purchase during the 2017-2018 school year,” the agenda information noted. “An activity bus purchase will be presented to the board at a later date.”

Also seeking board approval will be a trio of Potential Change Items (PCIs) regarding adding window film to the three new elementary schools and awarding a bid for fencing work.

“Current proposed fencing projects for the District include the north property line at Seymour Rogers Middle School/Prairie View Elementary School (approximately 1000 feet) and around the playgrounds at MacArthur and Meadowlark Elementary Schools (approximately 1000 feet),” the agenda information noted.

The board will also be discussing adding some new positions in some departments around the district, and will also be asked to approve the purchase of ChromeBooks for students and laptops for teachers and staff.

“We are asking you to approve the purchase of 60 touchscreen ChromeBooks for students.  Eight carts of six ChromeBooks will be deployed at Sunflower Elementary,” the agenda information noted. “One cart of six will be deployed at Prairie View Elementary and six ChromeBooks will be use to replace ChromeBooks that are in need of repair or replaced,”

The board will also be asked to approve pay raises for USD 480 administrators for the 2017-18 school year and after that final item, the meeting will be concluded.
