The Liberal City Commission could see a shake-up in leadership at its first meeting of 2017 this evening starting at 5:30.
Up first on the agenda for the commission will be to reorganize by electing a new mayor and vice mayor for the city. Then after a short recess, Adolescent Support Services will be on hand at the meeting to discuss the truancy and Teen Court programs, both as updates and to continue the funding agreement.
After those pieces of business are taken care of, improvements to Adventure Bay Water Park will be discussed. The park is in need of some serious work before this summer, according to the agenda packet information.
“The old paint is chipping off, which can cause serious harm, and in addition to the chipping paint, many people have complained of slick pool bottoms,” the agenda information noted. “Staff recommends painting all four pools at the same time so they are on the same maintenance cycle.”
The needed maintenance at Adventure Bay Water Park will include new paint, adding non-skid texturing to the pool floors, repairing water slides, and the purchase of a new tablet chlorine system, according to the agenda information. Staff will be recommending the commission approve all this needed work.
For the meeting’s final item, the commission will be asked to approve appointments to the Arkalon Council, as there were three vacant positions at the end of 2016.
