Liberal’s three state-qualifying wrestlers opened the tournament Friday, and two were still competing Saturday.

Cody Smith was the only Redskin wrestler to bow out of the tournament on Friday.

Smith opened the state tournament un the 132-pound classification with an 11-0 loss to St Thomas’ Aquinas’ Tyler Dickman.

Smith then dropped a 4-1 decision to Andover Central’s Nic Augustin and was eliminated.

Ayodale Braimah also lost his first match in the 145-pound weight class, dropping a 9-1 decision to SMV’s Jake Ellis.

Braimah earned a pin over KCSC’s Terrance Blount.

Braimah faced SNAC’s Dalton Peters Saturday in the final 12. Peters was the top seed in the division but was upset in the second round.

Trenton Wilson won his first-round match in the 152-pound weight class with an 8-0 victory over Topeka Seaman’s Carter Hall.

Wilson was pinned in his second match by Wyatt Villers from Ark City.

Saturday, Wilson faced Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s Nick Nece in the final 12 of the weight class.
