MEADE - Hazel Irene Porter Schadegg, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita.
She was born Jan. 31, 1924, the daughter of John Louis and Viola Sadie (Gray) Porter, on a farm near Reece, Kan.
She married Arnold Schadegg  May 12, 1943, at Fort Bragg, N.C.   He preceded her in death.
She attended grade school in a rural one-room school. 
She graduated from Virgil High School in 1941. 
She worked at Boeing in Wichita. She worked for Hallmark Cards and Books, bookkeeping and  accounting.  She also worked for the Wolfe Motor Company and later for DeLissa Ford for over 50 years.
She enjoyed working, reading, watching birds, and her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister, Corinne Porter Maclaskey, Gridley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; twin brothers, Wilmer and Elmer Porter, John Porter, Arthur Porter, Earl Porter; and sisters, Leona Porter Clark, Alice Porter Crotts, Lucille Porter Linn, Erma Porter Wallace and Thelma Porter Thompson.
• Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. 
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home. 
Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
