MEADE – Kenneth J. Way, 91, died Sunday, June 9, 2013, at his  residence in Meade.

He was born February 28, 1922, to Fred and Wave (Hyman) Way in Beloit.

He married Eloise Way in 1945.

He then married Pauline May Ringer on Sept. 3, 1956, in Scott City. She survives.

He attended the Beloit school system.

In 1942, he joined the United States Army, served during World War II and received a purple heart at Bastone, Belgium, in 1945.

After his discharge, he worked for Century Refinery.

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2279, the American Legion, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge, all of Garden City.

He enjoyed horses, hunting, attending 4-H events of his grandchildren and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors also include five sons, Jimmie Lee Way, Brush, Colo., Scottie Dee Way, Ponca City, Okla., Ronnie Vee Way, Mount Pleasant, Texas, Danny Way and Terry Way; two daughers, Debbie Boley, Meade, and Nancy Way; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frances, Robert and Virgil Way.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel in Meade, with the Rev. Ron Willard presiding.

Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Meade, with military honors.

Friends may call from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Disabled Veterans in care of the funeral home.
