Obituary

Fredrick Edward Orth, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at his home.

He was born Oct. 22, 1922, to Fred B. and Rachel Salley Orth in Eagle Rock, Calif.

He married Betty Lou Rouner May 19, 1946, in Abilene. She survives.

He graduated from Liberal High School in 1941 and went on to attend Kansas State University and Texas Teachers College.

He taught at Adela Hale College and worked for the City of Hutchinson as a supervisor in the utility billing department and was city treasure for the City of Hutchinson. He was in the United States Army serving in World War II. Serving from 1942-1946, he went in the 86th Black Hawk division at Camphouse, Texas, volunteered for the 350th Air Student-Pilot Navel program at Canyon, Texas, later went back to 42nd Rainbow Infantry, 100th Infantry Jump school exhibition regiment and volunteered for the Air Borne Medical Supply 11th division and was discharged as a sergeant.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, 40Et8 and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post No. 1361.

Other survivors include step-children Cindy Greenwood and husband, Gregg, Wichita, and Regie Stroh and finance, Nena, Wichita; sisters, Charlotte Julian and husband, Jack, Denver; Faydean Fiss, Hugoton; grandchildren, Chelsa Stroh, Sara Lorson and Alesha Stroh, Wichita;  and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Orth.

o Cremation has taken place.

Memorial graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at Fairlawn Burial Park with the Rev. Howard Keim presiding.

Friends may sign the book today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to  HCC Endowment Association for Nursing, American  Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68 or Harden Hospice all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
