KISMET  – Howard J. “Bud” Denton, 75,  died Wednesday,  Nov. 4, 2009, at Meade District Hospital.

He was born May 1, 1934, to Howard L. and Flossa F. Green Denton in Arkalon.

He married Eva Lou Johnson Feb. 2, 1958, in Clayton, N.M. She died Jan. 10, 2001.

He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a city letter carrier for the U.S. Postal System for 32 years and retired  August 1997.

He was a member of the VFW Lane Day Post No. 3166, American Legion and the Elks Lodge No. 1947, all of Liberal.

He is survived by two sons Rick Denton, Liberal, and Dr. Mark Denton and wife, Gena, Dacoma, Okla.; two daughters, Deb Anthony and husband, Quint, Greenwood, Texas, and Shawna Marcellus and husband, Mike, Liberal; three sisters, Thelma Jean Hergert and husband, Travis, Liberal, Naomi Faye Shoemaker and husband, Tom, Liberal, and Orveta Kaye Meacham and husband, Ed, Claremore, Okla.; one stepbrother, Cappy, Peterman, Okla.; one stepsister, Brenda Holcomb and husband, Duane, BellaVista, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Rodney Denton, Stasia Denton, Brody Anthony, Alyssa Anthony, Mandi Marcellus, Justin Marcellus, Thad Denton and Dax Denton; three great-granddaughters, Cameron, Natalie and Trinity Olvera; one brother-in-law, Roy Johnson, St. Joseph, Mo.; and one sister-in-law, Betty Furber, St. Jospeh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Norma Lee Ludwick.

o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kismet United Methodist Church, with  the Rev. Steve Morgan and Pastor Bob Deacon presiding.

Burial with military honors by the American Legion will be at the Kismet Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Kismet Senior Citizens Center in care of the mortuary.
