MEADE – Evelyn L. Dye, 84, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Meade District Hospital.

She was born Jan. 16, 1925, to Clayton Leon and Frances Catherine (Sobba) Glenn in Sawyer.

She married Virgil V. Dye June 7, 1947, in Meade. He died June 10, 1970.

She graduated from Fowler High School in 1943.

She was a bookkeeper for the Dye Feed Store, worked for the Meade County Sheriff’s Office and for the clerk of the district court with a combined service to Meade County of 25 years.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Altar Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, all of Meade.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting.

She is survived by one son, David Dye, Meade; three daughters, Rosemary O’Bryan, Wichita, Karen Melton, Craig, Colo., and Judy Malone, Lyons; one brother, Bob Glenn, Fowler; one sister, Dorothy Marie Glenn, Fowler; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gerald Glenn; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Melton.

o Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Meade.

Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with Father Angel Dy presiding.

Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery of Meade.

Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary of Meade.

Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the Lone Tree Retirement Center Employee Fund in care of the funeral home.
