IRENE I.M. DAVIS

Irene I. Matkin Davis, 92, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at Liberal Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Nov. 26, 1916, to Sidney Z. and Edna M. Beeth Graves in Hutchinson.

She married Homer Matkin April 17, 1938, in Liberal. He died Dec. 20, 1992.

She then married Jack Davis June 30, 1993, in Las Vegas. He died Feb. 12, 2003.

She graduated high school in Pueblo, Colo., in 1938.

She worked as a telephone operator in Liberal. She and her husband farmed for many years, retiring in 1978.

She is survived by one son, Ken Matkin and wife, Mary Ann, Turpin, Okla.; two daughters, Teresa Stout and husband, Rod, Turpin; Serena Caudell and husband Coy, Turpin; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, one sister and one granddaughter.

o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller Chapel with Rev. David Bagwell presiding.

Burial will at the Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Liberal Springs or to Liberal Good Samaritan Center in care of the mortuary.
