GRETA L MITCHELL JOHNSON – Greta Louise Mitchell, 70, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson. She was born March 7, 1938, to Stanley A. and Margaret I. (Reigle) Julian in Ulysses. She married Dwight L. Mitchell Aug. 2, 1963, in Hays. He died Oct. 30, 1994.
She graduated from Johnson High School and received her masters degree in elementary education from Ft. Hays State University. She taught school in Garden City, Big Bow and Johnson.
She was a member of the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Wesleyan Women, Come-Double Club and Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church Board. She enjoyed music, reading, sewing, travelling, movies, camping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her mother, Margaret Julian, Johnson; one son, Al Collingwood and wife, Polly, Johnson; one daughter, Lori Mitchell-Kandt and husband, Karl, Herington; one sister-in-law, Ella Mae Julian, Johnson; one aunt, Virginia Garey, Johnson; and four grandchildren, Alia, Anne and Ellen Collingwood and Owen Kandt.
She was also preceded in death by her father,; brother, Theodore J. Julian; and nephew, Basil D. Julian. o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson with the Rev. Dave Kaufmann presiding. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.
